Twilight: Let's Get Graphic!

Are you planning on buying the Twilight Graphic Novel Volume II?

I love Volume I, but I admit that I wasn't sure if I would. I dunno, it just seemed like why do I need to read this as a comic book when I already love the books and the actors portraying them in the movie? And yet I found that reading it gave me a 'new and different Twilight experience.'  I didn't hear the voices of Rob or Kristen or the voices I hear while reading Twilight. I heard a darker, more mysterious lower Edward voice and a slightly high-pitched, hesitant younger, very girly Bella with long flowy hair.

I decided I enjoyed that these artist renderings were not copies of the actors or the movies. Turns out, I  crave new perspective on the Saga and little new nuances or surprises. Sort of like how I watch New Moon and think, "Okay this time Edward won't leave!" Right, you do it too? You just want a little change every now and then. A little surprise...that's what I found with the graphic novel.

One of my favorite surprises was the equivalent to page 230 in the Twilight book chapter 11, Complications. In the book Edward has declared it would be his turn to ask questions and he walks Bella to classes all the while constantly quizzing her. From Midnight Sun we know that just before this point he was still very hesitant to touch her. Believe me, he wants to, but he is worried about her being fragile and how she will react to his cold stone skin.

But the graphic novel shows them holding hands as they walk through the halls, which definitely made my heart sigh. When it comes to Twilight it just takes so little!

So if you haven't yet gotten the graphic novel, I highly recommend it!

And I am really looking forward to Volume II!

I didn't comprehend to total meaning of the cover picture of Bella on Volume I until the picture for the second volume was released and then I realized it was them in the meadow. (yeah I'm slow!) So now I say, if anyone ever sees where this is being sold as a poster, please let me know because I think I would like to have it.

Isn't it pretty? Don't you just sigh to think of the meadow scene here? If you truly love the story and characters, then I think this is a wonderful addition to your book collection.

On another note, big Congrats to the Phillies!!!!!

Edward is happier about their winning than he looks!!! He just doesn't like hats messing up his perfect hair.

Tell me your impression of the graphic novel, if you have it, in the comments!!!

I. Want. It!

TigerLily Rose gave me the first one for my birthday, because she's such an awesome friend, and I love it (as well as her, of course)!! It sits in a place of honor on my bookshelf, right next to the four original Twilight books, Fifty Shades of Grey and the first two Unidentified Redhead books. (I still need to order Shades of Atlantis and Crushed Seraphim for that shelf, too.)

I have the first but never read it. I want the second and maybe I will read them.

I really want the post card set that I missed at Comic Con this year that is made up of the two covers - a mini poster if you will. Too expensive on ebay. If any one reading has this item, maybe we can work out a trade or a price :)

Let me make a correction to my previous comment. I am now waiting to receive Shades of Atlantis and Crushed Saraphim. SQUEEEE!!

I'll confess, I completely ignored the first graphic novel because I figured it was too comic book-y and had nothing new to offer someone of my (cough, cough) maturity. But, kiTT, your word is gold to me, so I'll give it a look. I'm with you on the cover art - it's absolutely beautiful.

@TwiW, what an awesome friend TLR is definitely! Congrats on your recent purchases. What is the Crushed Seraphim about?

@DD, Not surprised you have this, but I am surprised you haven't read it. I especially think you will enjoy it. I practically have Twilight memorized, so I just found this was a nice change to re-reading the book.

@Sue, Wow I had no idea my words were so valuable with the mature crowd these days! LOL So you don't have it? Hope you will check it out. :)

I have the first one, and loved it. I wind up spending all the time looking at the art, and coloring of it over reading it. (Not sure if that's good or not.)
I can't get enough of it, and I have been desperate for book ii! I have been stalking it on Amazon.

You know, Jasper's representation in the book reminds me of Battle of the PLanets that I used to watch with my third grade boyfriend (aka my forever crush)...

I'm with TwiloveSue, I thought it was too "teenish" and beneath me, but as she said, your word is gold. I will check them out.
I'm curious, it has SM's name attached to it. Did the authors/artist have to get her approval and did she contribute anything to it?

OK, I just got done buying the first one and pre-ordering the second on Amazon. Another productive day at work :) Thanks for the hot tip, kiTT. I think I'm really going to love these!

I was going to buy part 1 at a bookstore about a month ago but I put it back thinking along the same lines you did, why would I need to read this as a comic book etc. but now you have me wanting a copy! Looks like a trip to the bookstore is in order. Amazing use of a Twilight quote ->"Believe me, he wants to."

Oh my God! I'm looking between the part 2 cover and the Cannes Rob pic in the side bar and their hair is the same exact freaking color! LOL

I never read the first one. I guess I kinda figured, like you, what was the point. I may have to reconsider

@rpfangirl, I need to look up Jasper in the book!! There is so much to look at in the pics, so I think it is a good thing.

@BellaT, I believe this is a collaborative effort between SM and the artist.

@Sue, I sincerely hope you like them! I thought Lisa was the only one who worked at a country club.

@kassie and IJM, let me know if you get it!! I think it may be very inspirational.

You just reminded me. I bought this when it came out and put it in my classroom. I'll have to look and see if it's still around. I love the two covers together. Basically I have been buying comic books right and left; it's the only stuff I have that boys will read.

I think you should be on commission or something for these kiTT - you just convinced me I need these!! LOL I don't know why this fell off my 'to get' list....since I kinda love all things arty I'm definitely curious to see how they did this and how beautiful it looks. :) Thanks my lovely.

I got volume II for Christmas and wondered if anyone else got it and how they like it?

I love mine!

@munkee, did you get a chance to lookt for yours?

@Jules, did you succumb and buy them?

I'm holding out...if I don't get it for Christmas, I may or may not hold out for my birthday...TLR may come through for me again! *fingers crossed*
