First, I ran into Big Lots today looking for Thanksgiving cups for my daughter's school party. They had none. They did, however, have Twilight Edward and Jacob (Barbie) dolls for like $12. AND they had the Breaking Dawn calendar, which I was pretty set on NOT needing or wanting but now that I've seen the movie....I may have reconsidered.
moving on...
Obviously there is so MUCH to say about Breaking Dawn, part one but one of the things that struck me as I watched was just how much thought needed to go into making this movie. Because so much goes on, the transitioning of the scenes alone and the different scenes was something to applaud.
I watched in eager anticipation of certain scenes and lines and was fairly in awe of some of the scenes that made it in that I could only describe as 'straight out of the book.'
Onto the cinematic presentation:
--I loved how they revealed Bella's dress little by little and holy shit no wonder Charlie had so much attitude, sarcsasm, and was so snippy toward Renee (a little uncalled for) did you see how far down that opening in the back of the dress went?
--All the CSI -inpsired stuff--internal organ viewings was kind of cool. Did the trick for me in a way that I had never considered. Someone was really thinking.
--Bella's transformation--turning her into a beautiful vampire. I had wondered about this because Bella Swan was already pretty in that natural girl next door way so was it just going to be makeup, fancier clothes, and some curls in her hair with red eyes to convince us she was transformed into one of the beautiful cold ones? So as I am watching her wither away it suddenly becomes clear to me that 'visually' she is going to look stunning in sharp contrast to just how bad, sickly, and skeletal she looked while pregnant. Another well-thought out part!
And one more thing I will leave you with.
If you have seen the movie, go to the wedding dream sequence-- Picture it. First of all, that must have been either really fun or really uncomfortable to film. But did you make an immediate connection with anything when you saw it? Did it trigger visions of something else from Stephenie?
Okay....how about now?
Gonna leave that simmer here. Was this on the minds of the Twi-peeps when they did that scene or am I going all Corbs here and seeing clues that weren't intentional. Perhaps I will tweet and ask @Jack_Morrissey for confirmation.
The RobSquad threw me a cool birthday party inspired by the 80s with lots of Rob manip'd into some of our favorite 80s movies and tv shows and other pop culture! Lots of funny stuff, please check it out here. HUGE THANKS to them!!!
And in the spirit of the 80s and Breaking Dawn I thought I'd give a little music.
Go see it.
